Collection: Silver inlaid Iron Jewellery

Silver and Gold has been used in the past to decorate iron to great effect on sword hilts and axe blades. The high contrast between the metals creates a stunning effect.

In this method a deep groove is engraved into the iron. The recess is then undercut and fine silver or gold wire is pushed into the recess. The wire is hammered in place, creating a mechanical joint, not needing solder or glue.

The surface is filed flat and polished, resulting in the inlay lying flush against the iron.

Lastly the iron is blackened in the forge, with the silver remaining white, or the gold yellow.
